Half Marathon?

I like to run, but I don’t really run *that* far.

Despite that, I’m thinking about running the half marathon out here in Atlanta. Here’s the catch: It’s in 35 days. It’s my understanding that you shouldn’t run the half marathon or the marathon unless you’ve trained for a long time or you could hurt yourself. … but I figure that it’d be an interesting challenge. Has anyone actually run one without really training too hard for it??

I ran 8 miles today and I felt pretty good about it… but a half marathon is 13.1.  …. I’ve cut back my weekly mileage big time and I haven’t been able to run very much because I started a new job and I’m working a lot. Anyway, this should be somewhat interesting. I’ll keep you posted. Hopefully I won’t hurt myself.

– more tomorrow

There Will Be Blood

I got new Mizuno Wave Inspire 4’s (running shoes) with my tax rebate. A congenial blonde Polish salesman who was about 6’11 and 110 lbs helped me pick them out at a running store. He looked fast. He elected to show me several good running stretches. Some of them were bit awkward to watch. But watch I did. In a strange twist, I actually asked to see more.
I also got Franz Kafka’s “The Metamorphosis and Other Stories” from the library. I haven’t read it yet. I’m coming up with a list of books to read.  I’ll probably post it on here in a few days, if I get bored. I watched the Squid and the Whale tonight and I may move on to Blood Diamond (which I’ve never seen).
In other news, I had an interview at a big law firm today. I think I got the job, but I should find out in a few days. I’m not going to lie, I was pretty nervous for the interview. Some standard awkward questions were asked: “What’s your greatest weakness?” and “Have you ever fired a friend?” (What..?!)
I’ll decline to comment on the politics as of late. I have four words for you: THE END IS NIGH. …..    Or another four words, as the Newsweek on my mother’s buffet so delicately put the state of the Republican party, : THERE WILL  BE BLOOD

may I suggest: Cotton Candy Bubble Yum. How good? Pretty darn. But I do have one question…. There is an androgynous, anthropomorphic duck on the package of Bubble Yum. He/She/It has spiked pink hair, a nose/beak ring, and a spiked collar. Who is this duck? And what went wrong?
